Total time: ~50 minutes | Serves 4
Tips & Variations
- Slow cooker method: Add all ingredients except noodles to the slow cooker. Cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours. Shred chicken, add noodles, and cook on HIGH for 20 more minutes.
- Make it gluten-free: Swap egg noodles for rice noodles or gluten-free pasta.
- Extra richness: Add a parmesan rind to the broth while it simmers — it adds incredible depth.
- Lemon finish: A squeeze of fresh lemon juice right before serving brightens the whole bowl.
- Rotisserie shortcut: Use a store-bought rotisserie chicken to cut prep time in half.
How to Store & Reheat
Chicken noodle soup stores beautifully. Keep it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Pro tip: Store noodles separately if you plan to freeze it — noodles get mushy when frozen in broth. The soup base (without noodles) freezes well for up to 3 months. Reheat on the stovetop over medium-low heat, adding a splash of broth to loosen it up.
